My name is Terry Atkinson, and I am the owner of Xybornaut Multimedia. As you can see from the range of services being offered, my background and passion is in multimedia, which I take to mean working in multiple different media -- audio, photography, video, and the web.
My intent with Xybornaut Multimedia is to take this experience and interest in multimedia, blend it with my considerable professional marketing experience, and help companies and organizations more effectively develop the web as a channel to communicate with their customers, prospects, constituents, and the world at large.
As you no doubt appreciate, the web offers a dynamic and interactive channel to reach out to the world and have a meaningful dialog with them. But you need the right strategies, messages and tools to have the impact that you want.
As for my background, I am a long-time musician, photographer and artist. I have been recording in various incarnations of my own studio since the early '80s. In the early '00s, I transitioned to digital photography and then video. And since 2004, I have been using the web as a channel for my own multimedia efforts.
As you can see on the technology page, I am using industry standard tools for all of the multimedia development -- and yes, at times it does seem like rocket science. Perhaps that is why rockets and space are recurring themes throughout the site . . . hmm.
My professional background is in technology marketing. I was with Cognos Corporation for 18 years, ending that relationship in May 2008.
While with Cognos (now IBM), I held management positions in product marketing, product management, development, strategy, and for the last 5 years, was the global industry director of government and education. Here is what that job entailed.
In 2008, I co-authored a book on performance management for government for Cognos/IBM. If you are in government and reading this bio, you might consider picking this book up from Cognos/IBM. It has some tremendous insights into how government and public sector organizations can make quantitive improvements in the way they do things. It has just become available.
And what is a bio without educational background? I have MBA and Bachelor of Arts (economics) degrees from the University of British Columbia.
To net it all out, I bring a diverse artistic, technical and business background to the table. I am confident I can help with your marketing efforts, and web and multimedia projects. Ping me and let's talk.
And enjoy the site.
Terry
