Streamed Video to Desktop
There is a vibrant discussion in the marketplace about the best way to stream video to the desktop. Adobe Flash has established itself as a key platform for doing so. It is expected to remain the dominant platform in the coming years.
With the widespread use of video across the web, HTML5 is evolving to manage video streaming within the HTML standard. While the discussion is very active, HTML5 video support has yet to be standardized. Accordingly, browser support has been implemented somewhat erratically. As such, a single video stream will not support all browsers.
Below are three video streams which will collectively support all desktop browsers.
Select Browser
- Flash player (any browser) with support for dynamic video stream to accomodate the bandwidth of the connection
- HTML5 - IE with Google Chrome Frame plug-in, Google Chrome, Safari
- HTML5 - Firefox, Opera
